Day of Giving 2019 in Blytheville, AR
On December 6th, 2019, Smile Salvation Foundation hosted its 2nd Day of Giving event at Higginbotham Family Dental in Blytheville, AR. The event provided free dental extractions and was open to the public regardless of their ability to pay.
Volunteers from Higginbotham Family Dental, including three dentists, two registered dental hygienists, six dental assistants and a dozen other staff, came together in order to help people in the Blytheville, AR area during the holiday season.
The Day of Giving volunteers were able to see a total of 56 patients and provided dental treatment valued at $26,782.40 at no charge to them.
All the patients treated expressed their gratitude and thanks for an organization’s compassion to help them during this time of year. One patient exclaimed that they had been in pain for 6 months and no one had been able to help them, while another said they would have a much better Christmas thanks to this service.
The Smile Salvation Foundation and its Corporate Sponsor, Higginbotham Family Dental, were happy to make a difference in the patient’s lives this holiday season. Dr. Todd Higginbotham stated, “I love it here, I love the people here. This is where I started my very first practice and Blytheville will always have a special place in my heart.”
Many community partners came together to make Day of Giving possible including Drs. Kyle and Kass Lomax of Southern Pharmacy, who provided free medications for the patients, Pizza Hut of Blytheville for sponsoring lunch, and the Arkansas BCBS Blue and You Foundation with a grant to fund supplies and Henry Schein who donated additional supplies.
Smile Salvation is a 501(3)c Non-Profit Foundation created in 2010 by Dr. Todd Higginbotham and Executive Director Lai Ferrell. Smile Salvation’s mission is to provide dental healing and restoration through dental screenings, dental treatment and oral health education to the underserved and uninsured populations of Arkansas, Tennessee, and Missouri.
